About this work
Rooftops, water tanks and a minaret dissolve into a wash of blue and violet, with the first lamps picked out in ochre. Ink lines over the acrylic sharpen a few edges and leave the rest soft.
The composition is almost all sky; the city sits in the lower third like a sentence under a long pause.
Inspiration
The blue hour is the twenty minutes after sunset when a city is lit from two directions at once. The painting tries to keep both lights on.
